Hiking boots

When it comes to luxurious problems to have, what shoes to pack into your suitcase as you travel to your next international adventure is one of the best problems to have. Despite this, it is still a problem. As much as you would like to, there are going to be times where you simply can’t pack all of the shoes you want to. Especially if you are taking advantage of a sale fare which only allows carry on luggage.

When you come up against these, shall we say, challenges, keep the following advice in mind to help you take the right shoes for the adventure.

Tropical Climates and Hiking/Exploring

Visiting a country with a tropical climate and hiking or exploring small towns seem to go hand in hand. And while make travelers are used to the paved sidewalks of their home country, the reality of visiting these places is very different. For this reason, it’s’ important that you don’t just pack a pair of sneakers or sport shoes and expect to be walking without pain by the end of day one.

Traveling shoesWhat shoes to pack:

  • A pair of flip-flops
  • Hiking Boots
  • A pair of sneakers

If you don’t have a good pair of hiking boots or yours have seen better days, check out places like the Groupon Coupons page for Sperry Top Sider before you leave to pick up some appropriate boots.

Hit the slopes

When people pack for the snow their focus seems to be solely on that, packing for the snow. They often forget that there will be other times where you won’t’ be on the slopes. Or even close to the snow. For these travelers, they find themselves stuck walking around the ski towns wearing uncomfortable and bulky snow gear, including their snow boots.

What shoes to pack:

  • Hiking/Waterproof boots
  • Sneakers
  • Dress Shoes

Hiking shoes are on the list as they make for the best footwear for walking around the ski town and when heading into any satellite towns or even a more cosmopolitan neighboring city. Dress shoes, as strange as they may seem, are on the list because there are often times during the snow season where you will want to attend a nice event and your sneakers just won’t cut it.

Wet Environments

Despite what Hollywood would have you believe, not all enjoyable vacations take place during the summer months. IN fact, many great adventures can only be experienced during wet weather. When the majority of people travel to a wet country they often think that they can just wear their regular clothes under some type of waterproof covering like a plastic poncho or an umbrella. Unfortunately, this leads to nothing more than uncomfortable tourists trying to walk around in wet and slippery sandals and flip-flops.

What shoes to pack:

  • Hiking/Waterproof boots
  • Sneakers

While it can be tempting to pack sandals or other loose footwear because of the expected heat in a wet and tropical climate, their lack of grip makes them dangerous to walk around comfortably and safely.

If you are stuck on deciding which shoes to pack into your one allowed travel bag then this list is a great way to help you make your luggage allowance.
